XSD Schemas
This page provides links to the XSD Schemas STEP AP242 for reference. In AP242 Edition 1, the XSD schema was defined in the Business Object Model (BO Model; ISO 10303-3001). Since Edition 2, it is defined in the Domain Model (ISO 10303-4442). This is due to enhancements in the architecture of the STEP standard. As a result, the edition number listed in an XML file does not always match the edition number of the AP242 standard, as listed in the table below.
For instance, an AP242 XML file referencing “.../iso/ts/10303/-3001/-ed-2/...
” belongs to ISO/TS 10303-3001 (Business Object Model) Edition 2, which is part of the AP242 Edition 1 Technical Corrigendum.
These XSD schemas are the foundation for all XML-based implementations in the MBx-IF. Each version of Recommended Practices for AP242 XML calls out the corresponding schema version in its section 1.1.2 “Scope”.

The schema versions most common in industry use currently are AP242 Ed.1 TC (3001 Ed.2) and AP242 Ed.3 (4442 Ed.3). The other schema versions were mostly used for implementation testing and data model issue resolution.
